We are located in the west industrial section of Orangeville, at 650 Riddell Road. From the intersection of highways 9 and 10 at the east side of Orangeville, turn left into Orangeville (onto Broadway) and continue west on Broadway through Town past C-Line to the left, Veteran's Way and the cemetery on your right. The next intersection, with traffic signals is Riddell Road. Turn left onto Riddell Road and follow it south through two sets of lights, and past Richardson Road - our shelter is on the left.


The Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Branch is a branch of the province-wide network of 25 Ontario SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) Branches and 31 affiliated member Humane Societies. The Ontario SPCA is a non-profit charitable organization.

Animal Cruelty Investigations and Animal Control

The branch is responsible for investigations into complaints of animal cruelty and neglect in most of Dufferin County, excluding Mulmur and East Garafraxa. Regional Boundaries: Town of Orangeville, Town of Mono, Town of Shelburne. Village of Grand Valley, the Townships of Amaranth, East Luther, and Melancthon Township.

Animal control contracts are held with the Town of Orangeville and the Town of Mono. The animal bylaws for each town can be found on their web sites.

Services provided by the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Branch

  • During regular hours of operation Animal Control for the Town of Orangeville and the Town of Mono
  • Issuance of dog licenses for the Town of Orangeville and the Town of Mono
  • Care for lost and abandoned pets until they can be reunited with their owners or adopted into loving forever homes
  • Investigations into reports of cruelty or neglect for most of Dufferin County, excluding the Township of Mulmer and the Township of East Garafraxa. Each year we respond to an increasing number of cruelty reports
  • Emergency response for stray animals or wildlife in distress requiring immediate medical attention - provided 24 hours per day
  • Matching the right person with the right pet is the cornerstone of a successful adoption. Cats and dogs adopted from the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Branch are spayed or neutered, microchipped, have received a topical parasite treatment and initial vaccines have been started excluding the rabies vaccination.   • Provide temporary shelter and care for animals displaced due to house fires, motor vehicle accidents or families staying at local shelters

The Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Branch cares for over 1000 animals every year

Shelter capacity: 20 dogs and over 80 cats & kittens, numerous small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and other pocket pets; we also use approved foster homes for some special needs animals and to care for animals that cannot be housed in the shelter, such as horses or other livestock in our care
